MLH excels at Travel Trade Sports and Chefs Guild of Lanka

MLH believes award winning is important in any discipline, but particularly in the aspect of sports and the art of cooking, because every point of recognition and accolade adds to the brand's credibility. An award by any measure is a sign of excellence – and it acknowledges the fact that peers and professionals agree that the brand or company excels in what they do. In specific disciplines such as sports and culinary events, the win is directly hinged to people's well-being and happiness. And in reciprocity the guest too benefits. In this regard, it is important for a brand to have the backing of an award to signify their knowledge and understanding and indeed showing camaraderie and togetherness to achieve their vision of being above the rest.

Well MLH indeed just did that when Geethma and Sashini won gold in the Bar categories at the recently held Chefs Guild of Lanka. “The presence of awards is important to show what we know and how our passions surface excellence,” states Geethma who won in the Mocktail and Cocktail categories. She was a Youth trainee and her love for being a flaring bartender has always been a dream. She won gold a few years ago in the Marie Brizard and Spice Festival and now does MLH proud again with her wins. In the kitchen categories Ajith Jayasekera an expert in the field of ice carving made MLH proud by winning Gold Excellent in the category of Showpiece. Others who won Gold were Bandula in the Salt Showpiece category.

Like the mission of the Travel Sports Club states to strive for excellence in all your endeavours, well MLH did exactly that when they won Gold at the recently concluded Travel Trade Carrom Tournament. The Travel Trade Sports Club inaugurated in 1976, is currently the leading sports club representing the travel industry in Sri Lanka. The team won gold in the categories of Mens Singles, Womens Doubles and Mixed Double while obtaining runners up feat in the Mens Doubles, and Mens Singles.

Celebrating 50 years of married life

The golden anniversary is one of the most celebrated wedding anniversaries known across the world. And rightly so! Spending half a century in love with one person is a wonderful statement about the gift of married life. And many would consider it the hallmark of many marriages and indeed the children of Chitra and Samarasiri Rajapaksa believed so. Since they tied the knot in majestic Mount Lavinia Hotel in 1963, they decided to have a small gathering to recognize their parents at the hotel.
“We loved the hotel so much that we had a replica of the hotel as our cake structure in 1963,” states Mr Rajapaksa. “It was a beautiful day and indeed tonight brings us back to the days of yon,” avers Mrs Rajapaksa. It is important to do something to recognize this milestone. The 50th anniversary is a golden opportunity that cannot go unnoticed, states an official from MLH.
