Flavourful Organic Artichokes Festival with a whole lot of heart at MLH
An artichoke is earned. Meaning? It isn't easy. There are thorns.
There's that sometimes stringy stem. And there's no cutting corners with
teeth-stripping the meaty lusciousness off those pointy leaves. But, in the
end? You earn that soft, delicious center. You have an unrushed eating
experience. Oh yes you can enjoy a flavor that can only be described as
"artichoke-y."
Artichokes are the
ideal gourmet vegetable for a hearty meal. Famous for their unsurpassable
capacity to promote flatulence, artichokes are supreme at alleviating digestive
disorders, Artichokes have a high level of antioxidants and they increase bile
production in the liver, which helps with blood fat metabolism. They also
contain cynarin, which lowers cholesterol levels. Hence MLH has taken 6th
to 12th August 2012 to promote this delicious vegetable made into succulent
recipes by our global chefs. The artichokes have been organically grown by
Saaraketha: an organically certified entity that thrives on sustainability and vouches
that you can eat more than just the leaf base and the heart of the artichoke.
Artichokes in
general are naturally delicious that it's best not to complicate things when
preparing these nutritious thistles. MLH’s artichoke recipes uses a very simple
roasting, grilled, sautéed or even raw on salads to concentrate the flavors.

CIMA President fascinated with MLH
“I consider MLH a
seven star because of the characteristic, quality of service and the uniqueness
of the property and it really fascinates me,” states Mr Gulzari Babber,
President of CIMA. He was Sri Lanka recently as a judge for the GBC 2012 where
over 22 countries participated in a Global Business Challenge that was held at
MLH from 23rd to 25th July 2012. The CIMA global business
challenge is an international business competition designed to bring out the
best in young business leaders of tomorrow. This is a great opportunity for
students around the world to showcase their talent in business management.
When asked what he
liked of MLH he stated, “the intricate details that surface the years of
history engulfed in this magnificent edifice, is truly amazing.” He further
states, “it is also the people that make it happen indeed that brings the
character of the property out of the woodworks indeed making my stay a memorable
one.”
Yes this building
has soul and I definitely will come back to be part of MLH once again.
