What are you willing to do to save the planet? MLH goes beyond the hour to celebrate Earth Hour 2013 Organic Food Corner and Slow Food by Chef Indika

As the largest environmental event in history, Earth Hour asked people and communities around the world to switch off their lights for one hour as a silent but powerful statement about the effects of human-accelerated climate change. In 2011, more than 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour, and thousands of individuals took advantage of the opportunity to go “Beyond The Hour” to change their energy consumption habits for good. And even better the global digital footprint was in excess of 91 million and it indeed mobilized millions of people to go beyond. Yes amidst all was MLH who have been active in their green initiatives and have taken the Earth Hour celebrations very seriously and has made the idea of it more than just a trend.

“WE at MLH have celebrated it three years running and the only way Earth Hour can make a real difference is to recognize and celebrate the fact that this is the greatest time to be alive, and to illuminate global climate change,” stated Mr Bazeer Cassim, Group General Manager MLH. “This year we will not only go beyond the hour but will empower our community that we work closely with that they are making a difference. On 23rd March 2013 MLH will partner with the Earth Hour Organization to make the day extra special. It will be a day mixed with responsibility, sustainability and a celebration of nature in its purest form.” A slow food night which emphasizes the eco gastronomy concept that has been popular at MLH, and a beach clean up are in the agenda. Earth Hour 2013 emphasized that it is more than just switching off the lights for an hour.

The Earth Hour celebration on 23rd March at MLH will be partnered with the Earth Hour Organization in Sri Lanka.

An Organic Food Corner from 16th to 23rd March at the Governors Restaurant also awaits you. Please call 2711 430 for more details
